Supplemental
Instruction

The Supplemental Instruction Program (SI) provides students academic support by placing a tutor directly in the classroom. The tutor works with the professor to help students succeed in the class by offering free one-on-one tutoring to better understand the course material. On average, students who participate in SI courses earn higher letter grades because of the additional help provided.

About

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a nontraditional form of tutoring that focuses on collaboration, group study, and interaction for assisting students in undertaking “traditionally difficult” courses. SI targets courses with a minimum 30% rate of students that drop, withdraw, or fail, and then provides a trained peer who has successfully taken the course to assist its future students.
